Easy Red Velvet Pancakes Recipe


1 cup all- purpose flour

3 tsp baking powder

1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

1 & 1/2 tbsp sugar

1 cup powdered sugar, plus extra for dusting

2 tbsp butter, melted, plus more to cook

Salt, to taste

1 pack 8 oz cream cheese, at room temperature

1/4 cup whole milk

1 large egg, beaten

3/4 cup buttermilk

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp red food coloring

Semi-sweet chocolate chips (for garnish)

Toasted almonds (for garnish)


In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, salt, and sugar.

Add- in the egg, buttermilk, butter, and food coloring then mix together until combined.

In a pan, melt the butter medium-low heat.

Pour ¼ cup of the batter onto the center and swirl pan to form a circle.

Cook for 30 seconds then top with chocolate chips, if using.

Cook until bubbles appear on the surface, about 30 seconds more.

Flip and cook for 1 minute. Set aside. Repeat with remaining batter.

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

Whisk cream cheese in a bowl.

Whisk in sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.

Top pancakes with cream cheese frosting.

Sprinkle with almonds and dust with confectioners’ sugar, if desired.
